Coreterno

The brand says it draws on a slightly mysterious world of rebellious artists, poets, painters and engravers from the past, many of them forgotten. Under creative director Michelangelo Brancato, the collections combine rock and pop symbols with nineteenth-century portraits, illustrations and antique etchings, reworked in a contemporary way. You see it right away on the labels and objects, which besides perfume include candles, jewellery and textiles. Coreterno is now sold in more than forty countries.

The eaux de parfum have names that tell you the tone of the house without further explanation: Hypnorange, Ultralove, Freakincense, Psychedelicious, Punk Motel, Night Idol, Café Mémoire, Rose and Me. They have a clear identity and suit people who like fragrances that get noticed and don't mind some irony. The bottle and its graphics are as much part of the project as the juice.

The spirit is the one in the manifesto the brand opens with: a love of ancient knowledge and craftsmanship, the wish to give objects a soul, and the belief that symbols and written words can offer a little comfort.
