Filippo Sorcinelli

Sorcinelli still describes himself first as a musician. The organ has been part of his life since childhood, and today he is organist and artistic director of the confraternity that looks after the Chiesa della Croce in Senigallia. Perfume came in 2014, almost as a thank-you to the atelier: the first fragrance in the UNUM collection is called LAVS, conceived as a kind of olfactory tailoring. The name UNUM points to 1144, the year the first stone of the Basilica of Saint-Denis was laid just outside Paris.

Other lines followed, each tied to one of his interests. Memento starts in sacristies: the incense blends prepared in a Paris cathedral for the feasts of the liturgical year, the sacristy drawers of Loreto and of the Basilica of San Francesco. Extrait de Musique links each scent to a memory of the organ and church life. Atmosphère d'Émotion is about rain, in three intensities. Délire de Voyage gathers very different projects, such as Epicentro, dedicated to the village of Bolognola after the earthquake, and Unico Suono, drawn from Caravaggio's three Saint Matthew canvases. Superfluo and X SÉ move towards everyday, nocturnal and sometimes provocative themes.

What ties it together is his method: he starts from a specific place, sound or image and turns it into scent. Most of his fragrances come with a short text he wrote himself, and many need some time on skin before they open up.
