There is a place, a building exists, an archive lives.

Istituto dell’Odore is a collection of fragrances born within the imagination, with the purpose of archiving the past and the present, making the olfactory future permanent. It represents the only place, both physical and imaginary, where all the olfactory memories and essences that humankind has lost over time will be preserved.

In this project, the perfumes aspire to become guardians of memory, and the stories that narrate them express a shared and universal experience. Each fragrance is born around a defined raw material, rising to become a refuge for memories and emotions. Personal perception thus becomes a shared element of the collective, with the aim of creating a reasoned catalogue of raw materials that carry shared memories.

With Istituto dell’Odore, a new era opens for artistic perfumery, redefining the role of the fragrance creator – who becomes an archivist and guardian of tomorrow’s olfactory memory – and reinterpreting the universal value of raw materials.

Creating today to protect tomorrow’s memory: here begins the archivist’s work, with the research and cataloguing of artifacts, the first five specimens of which are already available to visitors.
