That question took her to the Netherlands, to work in a lab that wasn't hers, in a language she was still getting used to, trying to turn an emotion into a formula. Back in Italy she threw out almost everything and started over, because the result didn't give her what she was looking for. One of her own lines sums up her approach: for her, travelling means bringing home a smell and a feeling that can become a perfume.
That is where her city fragrances come from. Florence is a tribute to Florence and its layered beauty: rose, cinnamon and tobacco settle on a warm amber base. Amsterdam starts from the city on the water, its canals and flower markets, opening with cannabis, incense and black pepper, with oakmoss tying the Western side to the spicy, Eastern one. In her words, they are perfumes for people who know a smell can give back something that seemed lost.
